Unity- Friends With Flair

It is Friday and time for FWF at Unity.  I needed to make a sympathy card this week for a deer friend who has lost her sister.  They have been very close and this loss will be difficult for her and I want her to know that she has people who care.

I like the image of the butterfly because it is so delicate and beautiful but also that butterflies through their transformations from caterpillars is a symbol of hope for things to come.  I chose to make this card very clean and simple.  I used With Sympathy, by Unity and scallop rectangle Spellbinders dies.  I used a bit of organza ribbon for a bit of elegance.

This was a second version of the card.  I chose to add a little color and add dimension with the little butterfly (it is difficult to see in this photo, but his wings pop up).  I used a clear bookplate over the bottom image with some black brads.  The base is a black glossy cardstock, which made taking photos difficult due to the glare.  I punched some flowers with SU! flower trio punch from orange DCWV cardstock and added three dots with black pearl pen.  I colored every other flower with Copic markers for more depth.  Thank you for stopping by for a look and enjoy viewing other FWF projects.  Have a great weekend.

Inspired Stamps DT choice

Hello everyone, we are back for an Inspired Stamps DT choice post.  I have two projects to show you today, both using a similar technique.  I used Phil 4:8 from Guard Your Heart, Inspired Stamps, as my main image stamped in tuxedo black and then I stamped the heart with Versa mark ink and embossed with clear embossing powder and inked with antique linen, tattered rose and fired brick (Distress inks).  I wove a piece of shear ribbon through the frame and added some punched flowers.  I love this verse and I love the way this card turned out.

This little "goody" bag was made for my children's Sunday school teachers and AWANA table leaders for Easter.  It contained some chocolates as a "thank you" for their service with our children.  I used the His Cross, Inspired Stamps set and did the same technique as above.  Stamped the verse in black and over stamped the cross in Versa Mark and clear embossed and then inked with antique linen, dusty concord and vintage photo.  I embossed the back panel (both front and back panels were cut with Spellbinder dies) and embossed with embossing folder and inked the same as the front.  I used a small brown paper bag cut down to size and attached the front and back panels.  I punched a slot in top of "bag" and tied with ribbon.  Very easy to make and a way I could show my appreciation to those who serve my children.  I took the pictures outdoors on Easter morning and the sun washed out the photos a bit, but I hope you enjoy the project anyway.
Please check out the other DT blogs for their creations by clicking their names in the side bar under Inspired Stamps DT. Remember you can find these stamp sets as well as many others at the Inspired Stamps online store. Inspired Stamps are made of a clear polymer here in the USA.
Thank you for stopping by and have a great day!

Unity-Friends with Flair

Hello Friends with Flair.  Today I used Shine On, by Unity.  I just loved this stamp set with all the cute lamps and sentiments.
Stamps: Shine On, Unity
Ink: rich cocoa, Memento; antique linen,
vintage photo, Distress ink
Paper: Crafty, DCWV
Embellishments: ribbon, My Minds Eye, metallic pens, Sakura
Tools: Spellbinders, Sew Ribbon; Fiskars border punch
Have any of you seen this new tool?  It is Sew Ribbon by We R Memories.  I have been interested in the Sew tool, but it is always out at my store, so I looked at this.  I wasn't sure how it would work.  I have bought tools in the past that were so difficult to use that I find myself forgetting about them.  This ladies is not one of those tools.  This one is the scallop Sew Ribbon.  The template is double sided and your paper fits between the layers and held my strong magnets.  The cutting tool fits in the grooves, push down and voila, you have cut the paper.  Repeat until you get to the end and remove template. They provide you with plastic ribbon threaders, attach to end of ribbon and start threading through the slots and you have a nice ribbon scallop.  Easy peasy!  This is a tool I will keep using.  I can use ribbon on a card without all bulk. Win, win.
Have a good weekend.

Inspired Stamps-DT Challenge

This week at Inspired Stamps the DT was asked to create projects with flowers and scripture.  I decided to make a "tag bag".  I used two large tags and crumpled them and inked with Distress inks (wild honey, rusty hinge and broken china).  I stamped Proverbs 14:3 from His Plans for You, Inspired Stamps directly on the tag. I colored the Butterflies and Blooms, Inspired Stamps with Copic markers and fussy cut the images.  I added some clear stickles for some sparkle.
Front view of tag bag.
Back view of tag bag.
This is a side view of the "tag bag".  I added a small clear bag inside to hold the "goodies". I added a large green brad within the tag hole.

I also used some paper tape inked with same Distress inks as above and then stamped image from Be Still Silhouettes, Inspired Stamps in crushed olive, Distress ink.  The paper tape is still transparent so you can read some of the dark words on original wrapper, but I still thought these looked very sweet.  Who wouldn't want chocolates wrapped in special wrappers?
Here is the inside view with candies within the clear bag.  This is a quick and easy little encouragement for someone you love. Go out and do a random act of kindness (RAK) today and bring a smile to someones face.  This was fun to make, let me know what you think.  The other DT has also made some wonderful projects, so please visit their blogs and leave them some kind words.
Have a great day!

Inspired Stamps- Mother's Day Project

 Sketch Challenge (sketch 160)
This is my first time entering the sketch challenge.  I just loved this sketch and knew it would work well for this Mother's Day card.
Inspired Stamps Mother's Day card using Proverbs 31 stamp set.  All stamped images are from this set (scripture, sentiment  and flower).  As always this set and many others can be purchased at the Inspired Stamps online store
A close up view of scripture and flowers.  I used the rock and roll technique
for the flowers and stamped them in dandelion and rolled in canteloupe, Memento.
I wanted to mimic the flowers i the background paper (lemon flower), DCWV.
I used a card sketch that I found in the blog-o-sphere.  I believe it was at Sea Glass and Sentiments, you can find the blog link on the right side.  I changed it up a little by adding an embossed background.  I picked a Cuttlebug folder that had the same feel as the pattern paper. I cut the flag and oval with Spellbinder dies and the large flag was cut with a paper trimmer and then punched with a square punch at an angle to make the flag.  I used a corner rounder on embossed layer and one corner of the flag.  I tied a bow and attached with glue dots.  In the center of the flowers I added some chrome silver liquid pearls.  I added a splash of color with some summer sun cardstock punched with the scallop border punch, Fiskars under the sentiment flag.
Thanks for looking and have a great day and please visit the other DT members to see their creations for Mother's Day for more inspiration.

Unity- Friends with Flair

It is Friday and time for Unity- Friends with Flair.  I needed a treat bag for some teachers as a little Easter gift and I saw this little bag made with SU! top note die (Chic n scratch, Angie Kennedy Juda).  I do not own that die so I used Spellbinders Labels eight (the second largest die in this set).  I cut two pieces of white cardstock for each bag.  I used Feel the Joy, Itty Bitty by Unity.  I stamped in Versa mark ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I then inked the panel with tumbled glass and vintage photo, Distress Inks.  I used Spellbinder classic oval (smallest for most, second smallest for one with larger hole). I attached to small lunch sacks which I purchased in bulk from Sam's Club (about 500 sacks for roughly $ 6.00)  I use them for all kinds of craft projects.
Front of gift bag.
Stamps: Feel the Joy, Unity
Inks:  Versa mark; tumbled glass, vintage photo, Distress ink
brown ribbon purchased at holidays from Sam's Club
(problem with ribbon ends fraying)

Back of bag.
I dry embossed with Sizzix Basic Gray branches folder and inked with
tumbled glass and vintage photo.
I forgot to take a photo of back and had already taken down my
portable light studio, look at difference in lighting.  Love my photo
studio in a box.  DH purchased it for me for Christmas.

All four boxes.  Each with their own handmade character.  One has
a larger oval handle (thought it was too big, could see the treats
so I went down to the smallest oval size).  One of the ovals slighly off
center (shifted in Big Shot).  One ribbon cut with notched ends (ribbon frayed too much).

Overall I liked the end result of these little gift bags and would try it again.  I think the teachers will love them and of course the chocolate within them.  Have a great weekend and thanks for looking.

Inspired Stamps- DT post

Hello and happy Thursday, it is rainy in my neck of the woods, if it is in yours as well then take this opportunity to check out all the spring cards by the Inspired Stamps DT.  Today I used Be Still Silhouettes for my card, I just love this set.  I decided to stamp it in a gray ink and then use my Prismacolor pencils to do a spotlight of the largest flower and then I added a butterfly. As spring has approached and things have started to bloom, if you were moving too fast in your day to day life you could have missed the beauty, so I thought this scripture was appropriate for a spring themed card.

Thank you for visiting today and please be sure to check out the other DT blogs for their spring creations.  Have a very Happy Easter.
